So, gonna do a guide for Protection Spec Warrior guide...pretty much. Hope you all enjoy =).
This first entry will discuss the basics of the warrior: What to expect as a warrior, Basic Warrior Stats, and the various races that can choose the profession of a warrior. What To Expect-The Warrior is a very versatile, highly requested part of this game. Warriors are some of the best tanks, the best melee PvE DPSers, and one of the best melee classes in PvP. Warriors are also one of the most survivable classes as well, even those who are not specialized in taking a hit can survive longer than your average mage. Warriors can wear plate (the heaviest armor in the game) and hit 10k+ health with ease at level 70.While you are leveling your warrior, there is one thing you can guarantee will be asked of you. At least once a level, you will get the tell "Can you tank ?" This is something that, while you may not enjoy, is easy to do (to be covered in a later post) and will give you access to experience and rewards that will help you in what you would rather be doing. At the same time, you may occasionally be asked to DPS (damage per second) in an instance, but this is unlikely. There is a noticable shortage of tanks throughout the entire games, especially in regards to those willing to do instance below level 70. Basically, this breaks down into, "Do not expect to get to be considered as a real DPS class until 70."
Stats
A warrior who is leveling has 3 main stats. Stamina, to increase your health and thereby increase survivability. Strength, to increase the damage you do and for mitigation. Also, to a lesser extent, agility. Agility increases critical strike rating, and increases dodge. All of these stats and more will be covered in a later post. I do not want to get into Theorycraft in this post, as it is intended for someone new to the game who is interested in playing a warrior.
Races
Alliance-
Draenei: The Dreanei are a solid class to play a warrior as. Besides their excellent starting area, they have two great warrior related racials. Heroic Presence increases you and your party's hit rating by 1%, which will be highly desirable later in the game. Also, Draenei have "The Gift of the Naaru" which is a spell that heals you over time (It heals you for X ammount every X seconds) which is great in any situation in which your health gets low, and decreases your overall down time. Draenei also have racials that increase your Jewelcrafting skill, which is useful if you choose to go down that path.
Dwarves: Dwarves have great warrior stats (high stamina and strength.) As an added bonus to this perk, they also have stoneform. If you have any desire to be a tank (someone who holds the attention of the mob) this is a great skill for you. It makes you immune to bleed, poison, and disease effects, and increases your armor by 10% for 8 seconds.
Gnomes: The Gnomes are not the most hardiest of classes. As such, this will make starting one slightly more of a pain, as you have significantly less health. However, they do have a great PvP related talent, Escape Artist, which allows you to get out of any snare or root effect. Also, when you get PvP gear, and put it on a gnome, it is both hilarious and frightening.
Humans: Humans are another good choice. They have perception, allowing them to see enemies who are hiding, and their skill with swords and maces is better than any other race in the game (+5).
Night Elves: The Night Elves have a slightly lower starting health than other classes. However, their ability to stealth can be entertaining in PvP situations, and their increased chance to dodge is useful in mitigating damage.
Horde:
Orcs: Orcs are amazing warriors. They have high stamina and strength. Also, their racial ability Blood Fury greatly increases their damage output, and their natural resistance to stuns is incredible (15%.) They also receive +5 to axes.
Tauren: The Tauren are t he heartiest race in the game, receiving an added 5% bonus to their health. They also posses the ability of War Stomp, which stuns 5 surrounding enemies.
Trolls: The Troll's racial ability, Berserking, increases their attack speed from 10-30%. Also, they have faster health regeneration than other races.
Undead: Cannibalize allows you to consume a nearby corpse, regenerating some of your health. Also, Undead have "Will of the Forsaken" which removes the effects of Fear, Sleep, and Charm from them.In the end it does not really matter what race you pick. You may want to consider these various racials into account, however, they all end up balancing out.
